And the market races on. Dow 13,000? Who would have thunk it? Maybe Mr. Glassman, author of Dow 36,000, prophetically published in late 1999. Can you imagine the publicity he's going to get when the Dow actually does reach 36,000? I mean, let's say that it happens in 2024 or something like that. Who knows, I'm just throwing a year out there. He's going to get as much play as Prince got in 1999. You know, "tonight we're gonna party like it's..." Anyway, you know what I'm talking about.
Well, thanks to Mr. Glassman's prediction coming partly true, my portfolio advances. Here are the numbers and notes:
Notes:
- My Citibank credit card was a 0% Balance transfer. The 0% rate was set to expire, so I paid it off. I used funds from my Emigrant Direct account to do so, thus the decline in value there. Actually, I also took $4,000 out of Emigrant to open my Roth IRA.
- This month could have been better, but I had a couple of pretty heft expenses. I paid $1,200 for a CFP review course that I enrolled in for June. Also, I had to fly to Hawaii to attend a funeral. Difficult times, but I don't want to go into more detail on that.
- Those large expenses are reflected in my large American Express balance.
- The first three credit cards are current expenses that will be paid off in full when due. The GM Flex card is a 0% balance transfer. I think it is the last one that I will do. I like the 0% balance transfer in concept, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort.
- The value of my car went up. I have no idea why. I go to Edmunds.com for a current value each money, updating my total miles. Maybe demand for used Acuras is up. In reality, I don't view my car as a real asset, but if I get in a pinch, I can sell it and buy a junker. So, I think it's correct to list the trade in vlaue (the lowest of the three numbers that they give you).
I also have an Acura and the demand does go up and so does the value ! Hooray for Acura owners!

Good to see positive movement LMD. Have you ever talked about how you have your 401k broken down? I should search...Was just curious. I seriously need to hire a money manager for me so they can invest my money for me. I feel like I'm gonna be stuck in conservative mode forever.

Moneymonk, it's hard to beat Hondas and Acuras. Great cars.
FF, I don't disclose any of my investing details. I will say that I have been less bullish on the stock market than I should have been. I have overweighted in gold and energy funds, which has done well in 07 (especially the energy), but sure had a rough 2nd half of last year.
I would suggest heading over to Schwab or TD Ameritrade. They both have offices in Hawaii and both offer pretty good choices for mid-sized investors.

I saw you do this last month, so I decided to start tracking the financial accounts, bank account, mortgage, retirement savings. Last month was very nice, we are up $14,800. I manage both my retirement plan and my husband's. Mine was up 3.9% this month and his was up 7.2%.
I didn't track credit cards. I've ordered myself a new computer this month, so May's expenses will be up.
What was really cool about this month is that the investment accounts have now passed the loan accounts, we have more in retirement savings then we owe on the mortgage and line of credit. We've been homeowners for 14 years now.
What's even cooler is so far this month is already better last month.
