What's your take on the Estate tax? There was a very well written article by Richard Rockefeller (yes, of those Rockefellers) in the portland Press Herald. If you can't find the article there (and I couldn't), it's reprinted here.
I don't have anything to add to this. Do you disagree? I would love to hear why.
As long as the limits stay high enough not to touch the upper middle class, I'm with Mr. Rockefeller 100%
Of course I would say that probably holds me as a democrat. This republican party has cost me personally money and has been my 1st realization that I am truly a democrat, since I have been old enough to vote.
I believe it would be more cost effective to amend the AMT to save the middle class. I feel the middle class will eventually be lost if we remain on our current course.

What ever happens, the exemption amount should be indexed to inflation. We will all have $7 million estates in 50 years at 4-5% inflation. If the original $640,000 exemption in 1972 had been indexed, we would not be having this discussion.
