We'll call this "Top Ten Thursday." There are so many songs about money, including classics such as "We're in the Money" or "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend." But frankly, those are old, and not what I'm interested in. I thought these were fun.
10. Money Money Money Money, O'Jays. You know it best as the opening theme of The Apprentice.
9. Material Girl, Madonna. We are living in a material world.
8. Money, That's What I want, Beetles. It's honest. Gimme money, that's what I want!
7. Beetles, Can't Buy Me Love. Dramarama at #2 needs to hear this song.
6. Lucky, Britney Spears. "Isn't she lucky, this Hollywood girl? She is so lucky, but why does she cry? If there's nothing missing in her life, why do these tears come at night?"
5. Ariel, Part of Your World (Little Mermaid). "I've got whozits and whatsits galore. But who cares? No big deal. I want more! What a greedy Mermaid!"
4. Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money), Pet Shop Boys. "I've got the brains, you've got the looks. Let's make lots of money!"
3. ABC, How to be a Millionaire. "Tell me, tell me. How to be..."
2. I'll Give You Anything, Dramarama. "I'll give you diamonds, give you pills, hundred dollar bills, if you'll just marry me, marry me, marry me!"
1. Money for Nothing, Dire Straits. I want my MTV...
Dishonorable mention:
- B*tch Better Have My Money, Ja Rule
- Hush Little Baby, Nursery Rhyme.
"Hush, little baby, don't say a word.
Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird
And if that mockingbird won't sing,
Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring
And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass"
Are you kidding me? This is what we are singing to our children? No wonder everyone's got mad debt!
Oh man!!! Why did I read this post????? I sing that song to my daughter every night, except I don't know most of the words so I stop with diamond ring and repeat it a few times...... Now I'll never be able to sing it without thinking about this!
Luckily, we have many grand plans to teach her about money and not to get sucked in to the material world. We'll have to use this song as an example when she gets a little older!

It's the 'Beatles'. You aren't too young to get that wrong! John and George are rolling in their graves! Don't be dissing Sir Paul and Ringo! ;-)

Don't forget M-O-N-E-Y by Lyle Lovett!
Part of the lyrics:
No finance
No romance
Was how she told me goodbye
First she took my love
And then she took all my
M-o-n-e-y

haha! Sorry Hazzard, gotta call 'em like I see 'em.
Mapgirl, so, what is a Beetle? is that the car? Too funny.
Sorry beloml, the only thing I know about Lyle Lovett is his short lived marraige to Julia Roberts.

Quality list ... unfortunately you seem to have left this little gem called "Money (That's What I Want)" off it:
The best things in life are free
But you can keep them for
the birds and bees
Now give me money
That's what I want
That's what I want, yeah
That's what I want
You're lovin' gives me a thrill
But you're lovin'
don't pay my bills
Now give me money
That's what I want
That's what I want, yeah
That's what I want
Money don't get
everything it's true

What it don't get, I can't use
Now give me money
That's what I want
That's what I want, yeah
That's what I want
Money don't get
everything it's true
What it don't get, I can't use
Now give me money
That's what I want
That's what I want, yeah
That's what I want
Well now give me money
Ow, money
Wow, yeah, I wanna be free
Oh I want money
That's what I want
That's what I want, well
Now give me money
ow, money
Wow, yeah, you need money
now, give me money
That's what I want, yeah
that's what I want, yeah

How could you forget For The Love of Money by the Ojays? It should be number one mate. Thanks to the guys who mentioned Lyle Lovett's M*O*N*E*Y and Pink Floyd's Money.
Now, I've got to get back to earning some, for as we all know, Time is...

In this indifferent world, where people become more and more estranged, it's really nice feeling to be that someone you miss and worry about!

I won an online writing contest once, and got hard cash money. It was 25 dollars. Never won a TV or anything.
