Net Worth Update for March 2007 +$4,667.58

Volatility remains the word of the day.  Markets dropped and climbed, dropped and climbed, and ultimately ended the month, as well as the quarter, almost exactly where they began.  My holdings in an energy fund were frustrating through the last two quarters of 2006, but proved worthwhile in the first quarter of 2007.

Oddly enough, I had my best month in exactly a year.  Last April, I increased my net worth from $126,241.95 to $133,656.41 for a gain of $7,414.46 and 5.87%.  On a percentage basis, that one was much more impressive, but I'm still happy with this month.

Here are the numbers and notes:

Notes:

  • For the month of March, I increased my net worth 2.93% and $4,667.58.
  • Spending this month was lower than average.  Our $20/day food budget has worked out very well.  Three weeks ago we spent $15.99 per day, reduced it to $14.99 per day two weeks ago, and oddly enough $13.99 per day last week.
  • The first three credit cards listed are current expenditures which will be paid in full when the balance is due.  I do not incur finance charges.  The latter two cards are 0% balance transfers.

Wow, you really track everything. I only track my retirement savings plan.

My best month was 14.6% and last month was 6%. My worst month I lost 1.3%.

So far this month is looking grand, only two trading days and up 3.4%.

I only started playing the market last summer and for 6 out of the 9 months I made more on the market than I do at my job.

Congrats -- the $20/day food budget must be working well.

It's nice to see that there smart people out their managing their money wisely...

I love these monthly posts. I will be putting mine up soon. It's dumb, but I love seeing my little graph progress. (So I get annoyed with myself when it stays flat for a long time. I'll take the motivation where I can get it.)
